Nationwide PV design support

Residential Solar Permit Plan Design

Turn your residential solar project into a coordinated drawing package built around the property, equipment, utility, and local permitting requirements. Gemini Solar Design develops permit plans for homeowners, owner-builders, solar installers, and electrical contractors across the United States.

You work directly with an experienced PV designer—not a call-center handoff. Straightforward grid-tied arrays are welcome, along with battery systems, service upgrades, ground mounts, unusual electrical conditions, and projects that need careful revision support.

Residential project types

  • Roof-mounted and ground-mounted PV systems
  • Grid-tied solar-only projects
  • Solar plus battery storage and whole-home backup
  • Main-service-panel changes and service upgrades
  • Detached structures, subpanels, and long conductor runs
  • Generator integration and complicated backup configurations
  • Owner-builder and DIY permit packages
  • Corrections after AHJ, utility, equipment, or field changes

If your equipment list is incomplete, send what you know. Gemini can review the proposed system, identify missing information, and explain what is needed before design begins.

What a residential plan set may include

The final scope depends on the project and jurisdiction. A typical package may include a cover sheet, site plan, roof or ground-mount layout, array details, equipment locations, electrical single-line or three-line diagrams, conductor and conduit information, overcurrent protection, equipment schedules, required labels, attachment or mounting information, specification sheets, and project-specific notes.

The objective is not to force every job into a generic template. Each drawing set is coordinated around the actual electrical system, available site information, selected equipment, utility requirements, and applicable AHJ documentation.

Battery, backup, and equipment coordination

Residential systems increasingly involve more than modules and an inverter. Gemini works with AC- and DC-coupled storage, hybrid inverters, power-control systems, whole-home backup equipment, standby generators, rapid-shutdown components, service equipment, and multiple backed-up or non-backed-up loads.

Equipment experience includes Enphase, FranklinWH, EG4, Sol-Ark, Tesla Powerwall, Generac, Victron, SolarEdge, SMA, and other commonly specified residential products. Brand experience does not replace review of the exact model, installation documentation, and project conditions.

A direct, practical process

Send the project basics

Provide the property address, proposed equipment, utility, system size, available site information, photos, sketches, and any existing plans or correction comments.

Confirm scope and missing information

Gemini reviews the project, identifies what is still needed, and confirms the design scope and pricing before moving forward.

Develop the coordinated drawings

The plan set is prepared around the project information and equipment. Questions are handled directly with the designer performing the work.

Address project revisions

AHJ, utility, customer, equipment, and field-driven changes can be incorporated as the project develops. The nature and pricing of revisions depend on the cause and scope; review the current Pricing terms.

PE review and stamps when required

Some jurisdictions or project conditions require electrical or structural engineering review, calculations, or stamps. Gemini Solar Design can secure and coordinate those services through appropriately registered professional engineers. Gemini does not represent itself as the stamping engineer.
